"Spike" AKA "William the Bloody"
Date of Birth: 1880 (Sired by Drusilla)
Place of Birth: London, England
Occupation: Ex-Poet/Vampire
Spike, also known as William the Bloody, got his nickname due to his fondness
for torturing victims with railroad spikes. However, his William the Bloody nick
name has less glamorous origins, turns out that he had the name before his vampire
days,as a result of his "bloody awful poetry." William wasn't always a bad boy
prior to being vamped, he was a shy, sensitive, aspiring poet. After getting shot
down by the girl who inspired his poetry, he was killed and then sired by Drusilla.
Drusilla, of course, was the love of his UN-life, until she left him. Twice:
first for a Chaos demon and then for a Fungus Demon. According to Dru, the Victorian
poet turned psychotic Slayer killer just wasn't evil enough for her anymore. Only
120 years old , Spike has already killed two Slayers. The first was a Slayer during
the Boxer Rebellion and the second was in New York. By the way the trench coat
he wears was the New York slayer's.
"If every vampire who said he was at the crucifixion was actually there,
it would have been like Woodstock. I was actually at Woodstock. That was a weird
gig. I fed off of a flower person and spent the next six hours watching my hand
move."
Sunnydale's most interesting creature of night, returned to Sunnydale one year
trying to find the Gem of Amarra, rumored to make any vampire who wore it invincible.
Buffy kicked his butt, took the ring and sent it to Angel in LA. Spike followed
the ring to steal it back. Never happened, the ring was destroyed.
Still smarting over his last encounter with the buffster, Spike returns to
Sunnydale to take her out one and for all. Unfortunately he is kidnapped by "The
Initiative" (Top secret military demon hunting project), they implant a chip
in Spike's head to make him harmless to humans, which renders him unable to kill
or hurt anything other than another demon (which he does, leaving him unpopular
in the demon world).
He tried multiple times to kill Buffy, but to no avail (but then again, she
didn't kill him either). Spike became a regular in season four.
Poor Spikie. Not only is he impotent, but now it seems he is dealing with a
major crush on the Slayer herself. This crush led him to reject both Drusilla
and Harmony. Awhile back, Buffy told Spike that she found him disgusting, saying,
"The only chance you had with me was when I was unconscious." Spike had a Buffy
sex-robot built to allow him to fulfill his kinky fantasies. Unfortunately for
Spike, the real Buffy came across the robot, and took it from him.
After Buffy's resurrection things seem to be going in spike's favor on the
Buffy front, for whatever reason - she came back wrong, she loves him, he is just
convenient. The two have finally consummated there "er um...", UNhealthy
relationship. Not and ideal couple but something is going on there. It's wait
and see deal.
The combination of the chip and his love for Buffy appears to be having a positive
effect on Spike, but I will not be surprised when he shows his true colors.
