I'm an avid watcher of the UPN TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer. So you have
heard of the show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but have not known whether it was
right for you. Common misconceptions about the show are that (1) it is only for
high-schoolers and (2) it is silly.
The fact remains, however, that Buffy is one of the finest shows in television
history. It is a genre-transcending masterpiece that uses monsters and demons
as metaphors for the trials and tribulations that young people face as they grow
up. It employs complex symbolism and complex philosophical arguments to tell its
deceptively simple tale of an average young adult girl, who also happens to be
descended from a line of ancient mystical warriors, trained to battle demons and
the forces of darkness and to save the world from apocalypse.
Buffy is highly recommended for fans of mind-bending shows such as (Twin Peaks,
Farscape, and The X-Files, and more action-oriented sci-fi shows, like Xena: Warrior
Princess). The fact that it exceeds all of these shows on every level will make
it all the more satisfying for the fans of those shows.
I have a few favorite characters that I can not wait to see each week. One
of them being Spike played by James Marsters, you will see several pages here
dedicated to him. Dunno maybe my long lost days as a punk rocker are being revisited
with this character. The writing is outstanding, Spike delivers the most hysterical
lines and carries them well.
Anyway, I thank ya for stopping by, hope you enjoy your visit. And as they
say on the UPN site. DO not miss an episode or you will feel like hell.
